On December 7th, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service launched a surprise attack upon the United States against the naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, just before 8:00 a.m. The attack resulted in 2,335 American dead, and 1,143 wounded.
The lack of any formal warning from the Japanese, as required by part III of the Hague Convention of 1907, made this attack particularly vile, and it was, as a result, judged in the Tokyo Trials to be a war crime.
We here at AYC commemorate all those who fought valiantly at Pearl. For those who lost their lives, those wounded, and those who survived, we hold high the torch, and salute you.
