On this day in 1944, brave men stepped forth and began the liberation of Europe from the yoke of nazi tyranny. From the pilots and infantrymen, to the meteorologists and intelligence personnel, the largest amphibious operation of its kind in history was launched with the future of liberty hanging in the balance. Today we celebrate the incredible effort of those who played a role in this momentous event. To those who fell, we shall never forget your sacrifice.
